Step back in time, learn skills from the past and experience some of the hard work done every day, in hands-on activities and demos with costumed guides. 

Check out the colourful works in the exhibition ‘Interwoven Threads’ featuring Cook Islands Tivaevae and other Polynesian textiles from across Te-moana-nui-a-kiwa – the Pacific ocean- to Aotearoa, alongside historic quilts. 


TUESDAYS 11am Play with patterns Make a colourful placemat or artwork inspired by the appliqué motifs and shapes of Tivaevae and quilts.

WEDNESDAYS 11am Blanket stitch badges Learn this basic stitch. Make a colourful felt badge inspired by the appliqué motifs and shapes of Tivaevae and quilts. Recommended age 8+

THURSDAYS 10:30  Bread making  Grind wheat, make dough and create a harvest loaf. Explore the Village while your bread is baking!  $6pp    

FRIDAYS 11am Fire-starting demo Chop wood for kindling and learn how to build a campfire.

SUNDAYS  Butter making. Drop in between 11-1pm & 2-3pm to churn your own butter from cream.

EVERYDAY Feed the chooks at 10:30am. Self-guided crafts (all day)


Admission: adult $16, senior/student $13, child $8, child under 5 free. No bookings required but please note numbers are limited for the workshops and bread making. Open Tues-Sun 10am-4pm. Last admission at 3pm.

*For safety reasons no actual lighting of fires will occur.
