Vintage Hand-crank Sewing Workshops

  • 75 Bells Road Auckland, Auckland, 2010 New Zealand (map)

Get up close and personal with a vintage hand-crank sewing machine! In beautiful Bell House built in 1852, expert Gracie Matthews will guide you through the process on her restored antique Singer sewing machines.

Working on a machine of your own, make a beautiful, old-world inspired linens/delicates/gift bag with trimmings. Lovely lace and fabric offcuts and other salvaged vintage pieces will be provided with lots of flexibility for you to bring your ideas into the design. Create something for yourself or a gift for a special someone.

This class is suitable for complete beginners with no sewing experience and those at an intermediate level.

Tickets include admission to the Village and it’s a LIVE DAY. Meet costumed villagers going about their tasks such as butter making and baking on the range. Take part in interactive demonstrations and learn to craft like the Victorians did – learn to knit, create a lavender pouch or a make a silhouette portrait.

Bookings essential as places limited to 10 participants.

Book on Eventfinda (https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/.../vintage.../auckland/howick) or contact village@historicalvillage.org.nz or (09) 576 9506.
